Lawyer Paul Gicheru is Dead

 

Kenyan Lawyer Paul Gicheru, who was facing  charges at the International Criminal Court for witness interference has died.

His death has been confirmed by his family. 

In June of 2022, the International Criminal Court (ICC) closed the trial of lawyer Gicheru over the alleged bribery of witnesses that were to testify against President William Ruto over the 2007/08 post-election violence.

Mr Gicheru had in November 2020 surrendered to the authorities of the Netherlands pursuant to an arrest warrant issued by Pre-Trial Chamber II of ICC that had been issued in 2015.

A conclusive report is to be issued by family and police on the cause of death.
