Has Sperm Count Dropped that much in the last 50 years?

According to an updated study of medical literature, human sperm counts appear to have decreased globally over the past 50 years by more than 50%. The discoveries could have significant consequences for human reproduction if the reduction persists and the findings are validated. Since semen quality can be a significant indicator of general health, researchers think it would also be a sign of men's overall health declining. The review and its findings have sparked discussion among male fertility specialists. Some claim the findings are accurate and urgent, but others claim the data does not convince them because it is impossible to compare historical and contemporary counts because sperm counting techniques have changed so much over time. Nearly all experts agree that the issue needs more study. “I think one of the fundamental functions of any species is reproduction. So I think if there is a signal that reproduction is in decline, I think that’s a very important finding, ” said Dr ...

Causes of the decline in sperm count are unknown

The decline's origins are uncertain. According to the study's authors, they lacked sufficient data from various geographic areas to determine whether sperm counts were generally lower in some nations than in others or whether they were dropping more quickly in particular places. 53 countries' worth of data were examined. The authors also skipped over any potential causes of the drop. Levine suggested that it should be researched. Levine claims that he and others have identified a few factors in other studies that are linked to reduced sperm counts. The womb is where reproductive health problems may start. “We know that stress of the mother, maternal smoking and especially exposure to manmade chemicals that are in plastic, such as phthalates, disrupt the development of the male reproductive system,Lifestyle may also play an important role. Obesity, a lack of physical activity and diets high in ultra-processed food may all be culprits.  The same factors that harm health in ge...

Can Turmeric be used as treatment for Cholesterol-caused complications?

Image
People use turmeric in traditional medicine to treat a variety of ailments. It is a common element in many cuisines. According to research, it might be a secure and convenient technique to assist in lowering cholesterol and lowering the risk of heart-related illnesses. The root of the Curcuma longa plant, a perennial member of the ginger family, is where turmeric, also known as the "golden spice," is derived. Its peppery flavor, unique aromatic perfume, and bright yellow hue make it a familiar spice and a key component of curry powder. Numerous studies have looked at how turmeric and curcumin affect several biological components, including cholesterol. A waxy molecule called cholesterol is consumed from several animal meals and is generated by the liver. The "good" cholesterol known as high-density lipoprotein (HDL) may aid in heart health. LDL cholesterol, also known as "bad" cholesterol, can accumulate in the arteries and narrow them. A person's ch...

How Do You Like Your Githeri?

Image
Githeri is a common household meal enjoyed by a majority of families across Kenya. Its main ingredients are maize and beans. It is what most of us grew up eating as lunch and sometimes supper. It is the most consumed meal in primary and high school as the majority of schools offer it for lunch to their students. Its nutritional value goes without saying as maize offers a carbohydrate component that provides energy to get through the day, while the beans offer a much-needed protein component responsible for muscle growth. In addition, it is easy to prepare as the component ingredients are boiled together till soft. From this point, it's a matter of individual preference on how to 'dress' the meal. My own grandfather liked it boiled with a little salt to give it a taste. My siblings enjoy it fried with tomatoes, onions, capsicum, and some potatoes tossed in.  However, for me, I enjoy my Githeri with avocado on the side. Here is how I prepare this sumptuous meal in under 30 mi...

In playwriting, character development refers to the process of coming up with a unique, three-dimensional character that has depth, personality, and clear motivations. Furthermore, Character development can also mean the changes an individual or character has gone through, throughout a story, resulting from their actions and experiences. However, the latter definition is what comes close to what the phrase, Character Development, refers to along the busy streets of Nairobi, Kenya. It is much revered amongst the population of the city of cool waters. You'd often hear young men and women refer to it in their relationship stories. 'I got proper character development from them...' one would say as they narrate their ordeals, hence begs the question, what is Character Development? I talked to several random strangers on the streets of Nairobi, and mark you the phrase elicited several meanings but all revolving around one topic, relationship trauma.  A majority of people have be...
