An Action packed Weekend

 


What a weekend this has been?! Rugby was at its peak. With matches being played locally and overseas, our boys packed a punch.


Internally, RFUEA Grounds played host to mouth-watering fixtures that kicked off at 11am with the Nationwide Finals pitting Mombasa RC against JKUAT. The two teams had already secured promotion to the KRU Championship and were playing for the title. A calm and collected Mombasa side saw off the students from JKUAT to be crowned champions with a 31-16 win.

In the Mwamba cup finals, KCB faced fellow City Counterparts, Kenya Harlequins, in what proved to be a tasty fixture. Quins pulled away in the second half despite being behind at the break to take the title. KCB stayed in the game through two tries from veteran Andrew Amonde but it wasn't enough as Quins piled more points to take the Game 36-26.

In the final match at the RFUEA, Kabras and KCB renewed rivalries and at the half way stage It was almost evident KCB had gotten the better of their counterparts as they lead 18-7. Kabras came back guns blazing and put points on the board that slowly helped them claw their way back into the game. In the dying minutes of the game Kabras score a try that was converted to finaly take the lead and proved enough to take the Enterprise title back to the forest.


Internationally, the Simbas got their currie cup campaign of to a start when they faced the San Clemence Rhinos at the St Charles Morkell stadium in Cape Town yesterday. A slow start to the game by our boys saw them trail 19-3 at the half time interval with the Rhino's in total control of proceedings. This was not to be as they came out of the shed guns blazing in the second half and score three tries through talismam Ntabeni Dukisa, Brian Wahinya and Walter Okoth to trail by only four points. The Rhino's would, however, capitalise on a slack in defense to extend their lead and put the match to bed claiming a 33-22 win over the Simbas.

Overall, the weekend has proven that rugby is indeed a game of two halves, and that a slight lapse in concentration can tip the scales in the opponents favour.
